Did you know that the following laws
apply when you rent out or lease
a single family home, condo or an
apartment in Texas?

Rekey
the locks after each tenant change.
The locks must be changed within 7 days of the new tenant lease.
- Install
approved Keyless Deadbolts on all doors.
The keyless deadbolts stop the landlord or any other person from entering
the leased premises even if they have a key.
- Install
Door Viewers in all doors.
A "peep hole" is required on every exterior door of the
living area, including the front door, the door leading into the
garage from the house, and all side and back doors.
- Install
approved Auxiliary Locks on patio/sliding glass doors.
A "Charlie Bar" is on our recommended list because it
is easy to use, secure, and inexpensive.
- Install
a Smoke Detector in each bedroom and hallway.
This is not an item normally handled by a locksmith; however, if
you twist our arm, we may install them for you.
- Install
Infrared Safety Detector on overhead garage door opener. This is not
generally handled by a locksmith, but usually by an overhead garage
door company.
